A fascinating book, telling the warts and all reality of one of the darkest chapters of human history. It's written in a unique style between mother and daughter, the mother being the Holocaust survivor. Particularly amazing to me is how the survivors belief in God and strength in the Jewish faith endured despite all that they endured. A humbling reminder of how what we take for granted in the West now can be lost in the blink of an eye.

Heavily over rated film. I was very disappointed. A shame as it offered a harsh critique of societal class and wealth attitudes. Great cinematography at times. It starts so intriguingly, setting up what could easily have been a brilliant character arc BOTH for Chef Paul and Chef Aoy. However, by the end the storyline truly is a dismal mess. The female lead for me is a bit wooden and had basically only one facial expression throughout.
