Joker 5/5 This movie redefines the antihero/villain movie genre. It’s nothing like the comic books and there’s nothing that is truly based on the comic books besides a little surprise towards the end. The movie is very original and I have to give it up to Todd Phillips (considering he is a comedy director) and Joaquin Phoenix for making this movie as beautiful and important that it is. The movie is very funny as well. It’s not just a comic book movie but it’s a movie about psychological issues and how it is entirely up to us to decide what to do about those issues. I don’t think this movie would’ve been nearly as good as it is, had it not been rated R because I believe this is where venom failed last year in the same month of October. If you haven’t seen the movie yet, don’t let a bad opinion about the film prevent you from seeing this masterpiece that just might be the revival of DC movies at the moment.
