I’m not music literate - I know what’s good but I can’t tell you why, I don’t know notes, I can’t read music, etc., so forgive me if I don’t explain this right.
I listen to NPR in the car and generally get exposed to new music via YouTube. Incredible artist I should have known about before (Ren, NF, Mitski (actually thank you NPR for her)), so ya I had never heard of AJR until their appearance on The Voice (later yes I realized I knew some songs). Bought the album bc hey it’s not that much more than just the single and WOW.
I can’t remember ever hearing an album that is say “listen to it start to finish” (more than once) “b/c it’s a journey”. Literally the structure, the songs, you can totally tell what’s going on in their lives and it transitions so smooth and the songs make subtle references to the other songs and it’s just brilliant. I don’t know of any other album that I listen to from start to finish, in order. Every time.
