I love the Sopranos but this movie misses the mark. What was the purpose of Ray Liotta in this movie? And I love Ray Liotta but his characters pretty much just waste time and don’t really accomplish anything, other than, we as the audience, get to see Ray Liotta. Later in the movie, they kill one of Dickie’s guys, shoot at him and Johnny boy Soprano but then the next scene Dickie is headed off to the beach? WHAT!? Where’s the payback? As far as young Gandolfini, I thought he did great with what he had to work with but I wanted to see Tony, not some mopey teenager. The writing was off. We should’ve seen a young Tony slinging wise cracks at teachers, making everyone laugh and then clashing with authority. Not, a slouching, sensitive kid talking open and honestly with the school counselor/teacher. It felt off. I’m supposed to believe the same kid goes and robs Veich’s card game??? C’mon man.
