โญ 1 out of 10 โ โThe Ed Gein Trainwreck โ Painful, Pretentious, and Pointlessโ
Iโm a lifelong horror enthusiast โ Iโve seen every kind of horror imaginable, from psychological masterpieces to absolute trash โ and somehow this still managed to set a new low. After just two episodes, I wanted to peel my own skin off. The only reason I kept going was pure morbid curiosity and the satisfaction of warning others not to waste their time.
This shouldnโt even be called The Ed Gein Story. It has almost nothing to do with his real life. Instead, itโs packed with random side plots, imaginary characters, and unnecessary โartsyโ theater scenes that add absolutely nothing. Itโs like the creators skimmed a Wikipedia summary, then said, โWhat if we turned this serial killer story into a bad avant-garde stage play?โ
The constant jumping back and forth between reality and some bizarre theatrical performance is unbearable. Every time the story starts to build even a hint of momentum, it cuts to another pointless dramatic sequence with people who donโt matter. It kills the tone, the pacing, and any chance of emotional impact.
Itโs confusing, pretentious, and completely disrespectful to the real story. The writing is flat, the editing is chaotic, and the acting feels wasted on such a ridiculous script. Thereโs no horror, no psychological depth, and no reason for this to exist other than to test how patient an audience can be before rage-quitting.
Honestly, this shouldnโt be called The Ed Gein Story. It should be called The Ed Gein Trainwreck and Theatrical. Why stop there? They might as well have gone the full mile and turned it into a musical, since they kept jumping back and forth like it was an off-Broadway experiment nobody asked for.
If you want something that actually respects the story and doesnโt make you want to scream into a pillow, watch โDerangedโ (1974) or โEd Geinโ (2000) โ both are far truer and infinitely better. Even documentaries like โEd Gein: The Real Psychoโ or โEd Gein: The Butcher of Plainfieldโ have more atmosphere and substance than this disaster.
Save your time, your sanity, and your brain cells. This show isnโt horror โ itโs torture.
