As films of that era in Hollywood go l would say it is the finest ever made for many reasons. Starting with the fact that it is truly an antiwar movie (the first of its kind and it has never been done better since.).Not anti American but a clear and succinct non-pompom waving look at the immediate aftermath of military conflict.The kind of conflict that takes ordinary people and puts them in extraordinary circumstances.The terrible physical and just as debilitating mental toll it takes. Hollywood had never tackled those issues on such a down to earth every man and every woman level.The cast is superb.

Clearly one of the iconic performances ever witnessed on the big screen.Ann Bancroft as Anne Sullivan.Patty Duke was wonderful as Helen.She never cracked in her performance.The black and white film adds to the feel and atmosphere of the time period especially the Anne flashbacks to her time in the asylum.Finially l think the score is touching and heart grabbing. Certainly a ☆☆☆☆ movie expierance.
