6/10 at best. I was sadly a bit disappointed with this movie. The use of Carnage (A popular Symbiote to fans) felt like they had just took a free swing of the bat knowing that the first Venom movie was pretty good and Tom Hardy was a good Venom, therefor they would get easy guaranteed sales like mine. What they missed is that with a little more ground work into the potential this franchise can be if done right It felt like they really missed opportunities. (especially how it ended, no spoilers here) Obviously it can still be saved in future movies but this was a lot like the old Spiderman films half decent to watch but wrong in so many ways too and lacking the endings to provide longevity of characters the way the Comic books could.
In terms of the movies content, Carnage under exceeded his powers and in contrast Venom beats him easily despite being a measly shadow of the powers and confidence he established in the finale of the last movie. In fact Venom was mostly mopey, soppy and vulnerable which seemed unfitting of such a formidable entity. It just didn't sit right, Even the majority of the comedy scenes seemed immature and forced compared to the first movie which was a real shame as the movie did have some naturally funny and very typically Hardy-Venom moments in the storyline without fishing for extra laughs especially with nonsensical scenes of stupidity.
My final thoughts are this movie was made too soon. The Spiderverse crossover hinted at the end would have lead much better to the introduction of the other symbiotes and the idea of the multiple studios working together would have made this movie immense. I still hope one day Spiderverse and symbiotes return to Marvel as then the potential might finally be unleashed
