The images from the artist are so intriguing and alluring. I would stop in book stores and stare at the art. Then I saw a show would be made from the art and my mind ran wild with possibilities.
Upon the first several mins of ep 1 a dark sense of lost opportunity overwhelmed me. I didn’t want to give up. I held on for more images that represent the book. The promise of the amazing robot in the woods. It never paid off. They took a sci-fi world that was so passionately and expertly crafted and used it as a semi backdrop for careless drama that goes nowhere.
There could have been so much more.
I even tried another episode and shut it down after a few mins. What a waste. So disappointing. Writers would kill to have such a backdrop for scenarios and characters to explore. The “stories” here all feel like super indie drawn out short films you have to suffer through because a friend made it in film school.
I have to give it a couple stars because brilliant people are crafting some sets and vfx but it never rises to the epic wonder of the art.
