My favorite Rush album. The songs address a time of social hostility and cultural volatility that coexist with a period of technological evolution... an interesting juxtaposition to be sure. Different stages of life all are seen under this period umbrella, and it makes for songwriting opportunities that were not missed.
The band has matured perceptibly on this album, and some of my favorite playing and performances are here. As a bass player Geddy leaves the bar high, and does it without bowing to virtuosity, but rather runs at it full tilt and teetering on abandon on Digital Man and The Analog Kid.
The band, as a unit and individually shine on Signals, I always recommend it as essential listening to my young upstart counterparts...
