Ben Stiller is a surprisingly good director and film-maker it turns out.
The show is a quirky, light sci-fi with some dark humour that I think most people will relate to in some way.
The surreal, slightly awkward comedy of office-life is counterbalanced by a feeling of menace, that develops from the get-go and pervades throughout. The idea of a conspiracy is introduced very early in the show, but is still surprising when it develops.
The direction and camera-work is very good, the scenes are minimal and very pleasing, although the choice in lenses is something that distracts me with the focus-pulling.
Similar to Ratchett, the colours are suited very well to the mood - there is a nostalgic feeling whereby the time period could be fifty years in the past or fifty years in the future.
Acting is great - very believable. It is easy to forget that they are acting. The main character (beard guy from Walter Mitty) is as if the part was written for him, and the supporting roles are, again, superb.
The main concept behind the show is very interesting. I've not really considered this before, and the show explores the dual-life of office/home and its many implications and pendants in a way that can provoke some deep thought on not only work, and the necessity for work, when we are becoming increasingly defined by and entwined with our professions, but on the nature of subjective experience in the moment.
That ketamine hcl is involved in the severance procedure is not surprising.
I'm in love with the chick from wellness.
