This film is a remake of Akira Kurosawa's classic film "Ikiru". I found it to be deeply moving, with excellent acting by the cast but perfection from Bill Nighy. If you have had enough birthdays gone by, you become thoughtful and introspective about looking back over your life. I make it a point to watch "Ikiru" every few years, and with the passage of time it just hits me harder. This version has several tiny additions, but they fit in incredibly well. This is a beautifully crafted film, and I feel that The Master, Mr. Kurosawa, would be pleased.
I personally recommend seeing the original version, which is a bit stronger, emotionally. I found it recently on the Disney Channel as a one of the hubs, under TCM (International).
