So we are all supposed to believe that a Gen 5 jet simply ignores an enemy jet coming up behind them and opts to get blown up. Good movie that really missed on the ending. Took a shortcut for a fake hollywood ending. How about replicating the original and have hangman and maybe another jet launched to come to Mavs aid. And Mav has to use his superior flying skills to stay alive until they get there (aka iceman did for mav, granted he complained the entire time). And then they kill the Gen 5 or he bails (like the original) and everyone comes home. I'm available for any script review Hollywood. Do better. LOL.
