The should really call the movie, "the Riddler".
The Biggest Problem. Alright, if it's not because of this, I believe this move has the potential and I'm more than willing to watch the next one for Riddler's performance. Attention, I'm not commenting on Robert's performance, just talking about the design of this character in this movie.
Let's talk from the beginning. The build up at the beginning of the movie was pretty cool. You can really sense the desperate and the chaotic in the City. Absolutely love that. It also introduce the general pace of the story which is slow, mystical and slightly eerie. Until a chunky and stiff Batman showed up in the dark. Alright, you can argue the bullet proof armor may have caused that. Then... what's up with his fighting technique. You can find any soldier who has solid training do better than that. I mean come on! you said in the movie you inject fear into the criminal mind. From what I can see, it's just a regular guy who have fighting training in a gym and wear a bullet proof armor. All in all, the entry of the batman doesn't match the great build up at the beginning. I feel absolutely hopeless for the Gotham city. My last recommendation, they should really shoot batman as a monster in a horror movie.
The brain and mind. K, this is the thing that set me off the most. (Spoiler!) First of all, Bruce Wayne has been back into the city for 2 years and there's the Batman in the city for 2 years too. That's the background. And yet, he's not willing to participate in the business and making public appearance. Don't you find it a bit suspicious??? like, there's a reason why Bruce Wayne should show up as a successful business man so he can disguise his true self. When the Riddler looking at the batman in jail at the end of the movie and said "I'm looking at your true self!" I'm like, "no no, when he took the batman suit off, he's still the same. He don't mask his true self." Second, what's with the teenager attitude? when Bruce talked back to Alfred, "You are not my father" . All I have in my brain is "how old is this batman?? 15??" The batman who can suppress all his emotion and becomes so powerful that he once a god, now is talking back to his best ally? Alright, you can say, he needs time, this is the beginning of his journey. Then, I'm really looking forward to the rest of the story, cuz he must suffer so much to have that level of growing up. Last, this batman is not smart. He consistently makes the worst choice to put himself in danger. he has been saved at least 3 times by the detective and the cat woman in the movie... Like... how is he keep his secret for so long is a mystery to me at this point. He's literally surrounded by a bunch of corrupted cops, and somehow saved by the detective. Seems to me the police station still has the sense of justice in Gotham city. Do we really need batman then???
All in all, the design of this batman is basically a rich boy who's trying to play hero with a little training from the gym and a bullet proof armor.
