Disenchanted with Disenchanted. Enchanted was far grander. There were no musical segments that matched the cleaning scene or the Central Park scene. Morgan hardly seems like a difficult teenager. The actress who played the competing evil Queen is good but she was underutilized. There was nothing comparable to Sarandon's many scenes in Enchanted. No Sarandon dragon. The film lacked complexity. There were some nice set designs.

I loved the first three seasons. Beautiful animation, engaging plot, subplots and backstories, engaging, multidimensional characters, relationships that were fun to watch. I just finished the last season. Not sure what happened but I was bored. There was so much talk of feelings I thought I was watching Mr Roger's Neighborhood. The episodes were overly sweet - there was not enough darkness, not enough of the imperfect, to add a bit of acid. The plot points and subplots with any potential for drama seemed forced - they were quickly resolved with Good predictably prevailing. On the bright side we had an interesting new dragon with not nearly enough screen time. And a final frame which gave me some hope for the next season. I would have given 5 stars for the first three seasons but now I have to give the series a 4

I have been enjoying the series. The characters are developing at an appropriate pace for a series. I really enjoy Nori, I am following Adar with interest, I like Galadriel, Queen Miriel, Elendil. I have enjoyed the scenes with the Harfoots, with the Dwarves, and with the Orcs too. The settings are beautiful. Tolkien was a fantastic travel writer and that aspect of his style is coming through. We had good battle scenes Episode 6 and an explosive ending and important reveal. I still consider myself a Tolkien fan though I pull out his works only sporadically anymore. I read LOTR many times in my teens and 20s, too many times. I had many quibbles about the Jackson films because I wanted them to be what I read, what I enjoyed about the books. With Rings of Power I am far more relaxed. I don't worry as much about strict adherence to the written version of these events- they were not fleshed out enough, and there is a lot of room for creativity.
