The game was lots of fun. The community however wasn’t.
Kenshi is best when played with mods, That’s probably the games biggest strength - the real sandbox is what users can do with it.
Users however constantly bicker about mods and permission gate one another. The community itself is under a strangle hold by a group calling itself the “Genesis Modding Guild.”
This guild is run by a person named Atlas who is in my opinion a sociopath. I base this opinion off the fact that he cyberstalked me for a year, published my public identity on Reddit, and attempted to block my ability to publish my own mod by pre-emptively contacting other mod authors and asking them to not work with me, and therefore block my access to core content.
Moderators of the community are members of his guild, and as a result collude with him, working in concert and looking the other way when he harasses and threatens users.
In my just over a year in this community I have seen him threaten me and at least 4 other publishers, attempting to get us to recognise him as in charge of the community or we would get shut down and our mods be removed from all platforms.
He even went so far as to tell the Kenshi reddit community that each of them would get paid $12000 for filing reports of copyright infringement against me, for a mod I had not published which I have multiple screenshots of permissions for.
I went to the developers to attempt to get them to address this problem in the community, and they put me on trial instead of addressing the issue.
Ultimately they found nothing against me, but I got sick of the situation and left the community.
I’ve been on steam since the early 2000s. I have only one ban on my account. From this community.
Kenshi is a fun game. But stay away from the community. They are among the most toxic group I have encountered, and that includes strange MGTOW and fringe alt-right conspiracy groups.
The community is where this game fails. Devs don’t care and so a clique has formed that now runs the day to day affairs in their absence.
