I don’t even know where to begin with this disaster of a game. I have never played a game so poorly made in my life. Roblox Football has better mechanics than this game and it’s sad. It’s a broken, unfinished, lazy, repetitive shell of its former titles. I got this game for 13 dollars on sale not even a month after it released. That should tell you all you need to know and I’ll focus mostly on EASHL in this review since that’s what I play a majority of.
The gameplay doesn’t feel organic at times when a player who is 6’6 and weighs 250 pounds is the same speed and better with dekes than a 5’11 185 pound dangler build. Glitch goals galore and cross creases dominate EASHL and any other competitive modes. Penalty calls in 3v3 are ludacris with barely bumping a guy is an instant penalty or in some broken cases such as today, losing the face off and not being near a single person on the opposite team of. Not only do I have the clip saved of nothing happening but somehow being a penalty shot, but the player taking the shot attempted the glitch goal and was only stopped due to user error. There’s graphical glitches galore every single time I play. The amount of times incorrect scores, backwards scores, or flat out hilarious numbered scores in cutscenes have played is mind boggling considering this game retailed for 59.99 at one point. Connections are awful no matter where you play or how nice of a wifi connection you have. I’ve played my friend 10 minutes down the street and had worse connection to our game than someone playing against me in Canada. I almost forgot the best part, the glitches didn’t start down the road, oh no. They started our first game on with my friends. We won our first ever EASHL game only for the game to not record it at all which in turn gave us no progress from a game we had rightfully won and played.
Players 3 times your size will blow past you as if their speed is set to 99, the crowd looks awful and their models melt together when not in cutscenes, and get a new announcer. James is terrible and the technology exists to get someone else. Oh and patching the goalie glitch which was at least fun but not fixing the text issues, audio issues, ice tilt, cross crease issue, or build balancing is downright criminal.
EA should’ve paid me to play this absolute dumpster fire of a game and 23 doesn’t look like it’ll be much better.
