Note: Despite preordering this game, we waited 4 days after release until we started playing and got the patch (do download the patch if you haven't done so already). We feel that some of the reviews are quite harsh because of the initial setbacks (although with any game, some you'll absolutely love and some will leave more of a 'meh' type response). In today's world, it's honestly quite refreshing to see a game with a £20 price tag (sure you can sell it on, so long as it's not digital!). Wait for a sale further down the line if truly concerned.
Now onto the review...
Partner is currently on around chapter 4. Giving this game 4 stars so far due to a few glitches that have happened with character movement etc., but nothing that's made the game truly unplayable so far (we did have to go back to another save though during an enemy part but it wasn't the end of the world).
If you're all about high end pristine graphics then don't buy this game. We are fans of the first Remothered and are aware of the backstory. I find the stories so good that I can happily watch my partner play them (even though I don't play horror games myself - too creepy!). So far we have really enjoyed both games and are keen to progress Broken Porcelain!
One difference that my partner really enjoyed in comparison to Tormented Fathers is the fact that this game gives you objectives which help you along. He also enjoyed the part where he had to - don't want to give too much away here but I'm sure the game makers appreciate the feedback if they do indeed ever see it, *mild spoiler* - use the telephone as opposed to keys during one of the chapters. He appreciated that this was a different approach than normal and required thought. One downside he says is that the moth ability can at times be hard to execute, and the controls can be quite clunky (but then again, 'they were in the first game' he said).
We obviously haven't finished the game yet but one of the reviews mentioned a sequel - we do hope that this is the case and will be following with interest! I hope the makers of this game learn from past mistakes because we are really enjoying this game and I do believe the franchise will continue to develop a fan base despite some of the setbacks. When flicking through we noticed that Michael W left a lovely and insightful review that he updated on the 20 October 2020, which also mentioned his concerns over a possible third game, something that will surely resonate with a lot of fans.
