Incredible! Gaiman's imagination never ceases to amaze me and The Sandman: Preludes and Nocturnes, is an astonishing tale. The story is dynamic and this is an excellent way to begin the series. There's many multi-faceted elements and I found the story to be witty as well as sharp, dark yet calculated and extremely well plotted, every segment is elegantly executed. Visually, it's stunning and the illustrations are by far some of the best I have seen. I am a very creative/artistic individual and I love stories, if you're the same/similar, I have every confidence that you will enjoy this series.

Frustratingly, I watched the film prior to knowledge that it was based on a novel. ...What a wonderful novel it is! The version I have is a special edition where the work's of illustrator, Chris Riddell, have been placed at the beginning of each chapter. Riddell's style is very haunting and sets the mood perfectly, it certainly works well with the story and feeds your imagination to create even more sinister looking characters and scenery. The story is easy to follow and as a reader in my thirties, I found it very satisfying as I do struggle to follow some novels (attention issues). Definitely worth a read, a good book to take on holiday.

Snow, Glass and Apples, wow, what an incredible adaptation for Snow White! The story is compelling, dark, sexual and very enticing as it's impossible to resist turning the pages. Your eyes are greeted with absolutely delicious and delightful illustrations/art work on every single page. Gaiman and Doran work ravishingly well together on this masterpiece. I adored the dark story and my eyes were ravenous for the beautiful art work. It's a book that will never leave my bookcase...except for when I am reading it (again and again).

I am in my thirties and find some novels difficult to follow (attention issues), however, this book surprised me as I couldn't put it down. There's a lot happening in this book and it contains some very quirky characters, regardless, I was able to follow the story with ease thanks to Gaiman's writing style. It's my opinion that this book is a good read for a variety of age groups and different people. It truly is a wonderful story and I'll definitely read it again.

This book inspired me to get off of my backside and pursue my dreams! I know this is cheesy but it's true. Inside, you're greeted with inspirational quotes from Gaiman and the font is handwritten, that's right! No typeface, just natural and organic handwriting so immediately, you feel a connection to the author. Riddell's illustrations. as always, are wonderful and very expressive. They aid the narration and literally illustrate the points the author is making, taking you on a visual journey. This book is an absolute essential for anyone who likes to create in whatever way that may be, the level of openness allows the reader to connect to it in their own personal way. It'll give you a kick (should you need it!) and make you want to take control of your life, or at least that's the impact it had on me. Overall, so grateful to have found this book and I'll never part with it.
