The show hinges of Henry Cavills performance I feel, considering it's fairly short at an 8 hour runtime with so much world building to encompass. Fortunately the performance Cavill brings is ripe with genuine adoration for the IP and that's extremely evident, he does an incredible job portraying the man of few words and fewer emotions; Geralt of Rivia, sounding as though he'd replaced Listerine with rubble and his evergrowing sighs echoing my home. The practical effects are incredible, from an early introduced Sylvain to the lovingly dressed cast and sets and where CGI is used, it's used well in contrast with the far, foggy landscapes you'd expect to see, obscuring any artifacts but leaving enough for you not needing to revel in imagination.
I'm genuinely excited for the second season to air but I can't help and wonder whether without Cavills efforts, it'd be the amped up fantasy show of the year so many praise it as.
