Jeffrey Hicks

I moved to Yap in 1983 and met John Jensen. He is credited with creating a workable Yapese alphabet illustrating the various sounds used in Yapese expression. I learned the Yapese language and used much of Jensen's work in that process. Anyone hoping to learn and understand Yapese should use Jensen's dictionary as a guide.
