I think it's important to seriously consider the audience for which it's written, in the same way that we take into consideration the audience of each of the gospels. Sergio was clearly gifted by God, to create and tell stories with beautiful pictures. He's choosing to tell God's story.
I feel confident that God can and does use anything He chooses to reach his children and we shouldn't judge Sergio's effort to be a part of that process.
