I almost fell asleep during this movie. The jump scares were predictable and not even scary. The acting was weak and didn’t draw you in. The story (at least there was one) was boring. Like most modern day horror stories the characters themselves are idiots that purposely tried to get themselves killed. Also, this is a bit off topic but I need to talk about it. As a Jewish girl myself I was glad to see another Jewish character dealing with the struggle of preparation for the bar/bat mitzvah. But, I was truly surprised to see how utterly terrible that kid was with his prayers. I know this has nothing to do with the overall movie, but come on, I know many first grade kids that come from very un conservative families that can say their prayers better than that. This was one of the main reasons I found their characters unconvincing. All the characters made me want Pennywise to kill them. Time for the pros- Pennywise was sick. The character design with him was fantastic. Taking on forms of each character’s fears was a brilliant idea. I would not watch this movie again. If you are looking for a fantastic movie with convincing characters, genius storyline and a complete uniqueness I would recommend Silence of the Lambs, a truly perfect scary movie.
