Most of Grace Livingston Hill's books are syrupy sweet and beat you over the head with religion. I am not against religion, I am a Christian but her books are populated with characters who are not to be believed they are so sickeningly sweet. Marcia Schuyler is also sweet but the story is an interesting one and Grace doesn't wield such a heavy religious pen. It really is a sweet story that would have made a wonderful 1940s movie.
