Twisters is an excellent example of a disaster movie done right with great callbacks to the original, but a wholly self-contained story! From this weather geek and former Navy Weather staff, the science is more accurate and accessible. The visuals and sound are even better than the original and bring you along for the ride as the action heats up. My only concern are the deaths, while very realistic in the movie, are far more forward than in the original. The added violence pushes the movie very much into its PG13 rating with a warning to parents of younger kids thinking it is like the original. Overall, this doesn’t detract from my view of the movie, as I believe it's important to highlight how dangerous tornados are, just a general warning. Please enjoy Twisters as a total emersion in the world of storm-chasing.
