This is definitely a difficult movie to review because of the fact that it was based off real life events. One positive of the film that I enjoyed right from the beginning was the fact that they effectively transitioned back and forth between the past and present, allowing them to add some more plot to what would otherwise be just one person sitting on a boat and drifting. I felt that there should have been more of an orientation towards the survival aspect due to the fact that the real life situation was a story of survival and hardship, but in the end they focused too much on the romantic aspect making it very dull at times. In the end they partially countered this by adding in an interesting twist based on the romance aspect but could be seen by many as very predictable given the very common correlation between being lost at sea and delirium. Overall the movie seemed to move slow and the predictable nature made it feel like you could leave and pick back up at any point without the feeling of missing much. I would recommend this to people who appreciate good romantic films but not those who were watching it to fully understand how she survived the 41 days drifting at sea and her experience in doing such.
