Haven't seen such a beautifully horrific take like this on Batman in sometime (Morrison/Mckean's Arkham Asylum comes to mind). The writing was great; though I wonder how much experience Ennis has in reading Batman. The art was excellent, truly great. My biggest complaint is the letters, which were NOT complimentary to the superb artwork. I recommend Reptilian in a heartbeat, though. Fantastic read!

I really enjoyed this work. Great story. Very good art. Lots of older Batman references, especially from the Tim Burton films! Only thing I did not like was the virtue signal. I won't spoil it, but...dang, pretty disappointed with Murphy for it.

First off: I am a big fan of the Fables series and a lifelong fan of Batman. Okay, this was a really well written, well structured and overall fun story to read. Criticism: Willingham does not know Batman well enough for this to be a great story; this is painfully clear in Bruce's/Batman's (and even Alfred's) dialogue. It is not so much WHAT is being said so much as it is HOW it is said. But again, the book is great fun and very unique.

First off, I'm a huge Bat-fan. This particular title I'd put off reading for years, but finally read today...the whole in one sitting (because it isn't broken into chapters and, well, it was pretty that good, too!) Anyone who knows Azarello's work (like 100 Bullets) knows that he can tell a great story in the spirit of, say the Godfather or Goodfellas and Joker is no exception. This is a Batman story, in a very loose sense, but primarily it is just a good story. It doesn't rely on the Bat-world and could just as easily have been adapted to fit Spiderman or Daredevil (one their darker villains, anyway!). Anyways, as a good story, I think it's fantastic. As a Batman story...no thanks.
