Those who are looking for a horror movie may be disappointed. This does not come across as a horror movie, nor did it intend to, but rather as a documentary of real life events. I've been reading about excorcisms for years, and this movie seems to have all the standard markings. In that regard it is educational. Some liberties have been taken no doubt. All in all, a sobering morality play. People who believe in good spirits and evil spirits should love this movie. Based on the writings of a priest who conducted over 100,000 exorcisms in his lifetime, Father Gabriel Amorth. I would like to know more, so intend to read his books: An Exorcist Tells His Story, and An Exorcist, More Stories. Russell Crowe, by the way, was excellent.
