I really, really like the show Yellowstone, but it took me awhile to figure out what it was all about. I had to watch each episode in season one over again to catch everything and put it together. I found the plot very "disjointed." Finally in season two, things came together better but I still had to watch each episode over again to connect the plots/dots.
As much as I like it, there are scenes that are there for effect only, and do not add to the story or is complementary to that scene; example:
In season one, I do not remember the episode number but it was one of the earlier ones; John Dutton and Rip were riding in their truck and they saw that a cow was trying to give birth and they saw that it was in distress. They jumped out of the truck, grabbed the tools needed to pull the calf out. Immediately a supposedly "new born calf" jumped up and ran off and so did the mom cow. This scene was so UNREALISTIC as to what really happens during birth, especially when there is trauma, like a breech. And there are other scenes that have been "overdone." It took me awhile to take the show seriously because of the above issues I just stated.
However, I stayed with it as the plots thickened and now I can't wait for season five.
I want to give kudos to the writer for developing the character of Jimmy. Now, at the end of season four, I have enjoyed watching where Jimmy is in his growth of maturity. So what's next??
