I think what people are missing is the fact that the animated version of this STORY of a real person, didn’t recreate or even get the story of Mulan correctly. Their trying to compare it the the original like it was going to be better with music and blah blah blah. They were taking the children’s BELOVED movie to make it more serious, less jokingly to capture the essence of China. I believe this movie failed to do that as well. It failed to capture the story.. because Mulan wasn’t a super human chi master. She was a normal human with normal human ability. I believe that made her to super human. The meaning of family and love was captured well but I don’t think their family wouldn’t just accepted her so easily. Seeing how early life with women was, disgrace or be disgraced. Dishonor to your family if you lie, no husband. All that stuff. They made an exception for her but no one else. Wouldn’t have worked that way. I watched it, trying not to compare it to the animated version. Seemed to work but I did miss the music but I understand why they didn’t put it in there. They got so much backlash from not just one but BOTH movies. So you can’t please everyone. It was alright. Meh. Could’ve been better IMO
