I just want to really thank Chimamanda for writing this book. It's amazing and sad. And extremely eye-opening.
I would have never learnt about the war. It's facts, and it's horrific experiences. Tribal discrimination still exists in Nigeria today. But at least the injustice of silent suffering is relatively unlikely due to technology and the internet.
The manner in which Nigerians were simply oblivious to Biafra's plight was simply horrific.
Spoiler: Kainene's character goes missing as people do in wars. And sexual violence is perpetuated as well. I'm glad those parts were added. Because most people assume war always ends with simply death in such times. Sometimes it's trauma, sometimes it's mystery.
