Rambling story. I didn’t care about the main character. Plot moved slowly with too much irrelevant detail. How did this get selected by R Witherspoon for a book list? Or did I make a mistake thinking it was one of her selections?

I read this because a friend said to read it and I thought it was on the best seller list. It was a disappointment in that the plot was so predictable and was like a bad soap opera: one disaster after another. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

This story went on too long for me. Seemed contrived. Not my favorite

I listened to this epic tale on Audible with the author as narrator. His delivery of the voices of many characters is brilliant. His prose is lyrical and easy to follow. My knowledge of Indian history was enhanced and I came to sympathize with and love many of his well developed characters. Yes, it is long but rich. I didn’t want it to end
