Great telling of the story of Pinocchio. Del Toro does a wonderful in showing true loss from beginning to end and that it eventually happens to everyone. Yes, this movie is set in WW2 Italy which has a darker tone to it and Del Toro does an amazing job balancing the horror of war with a family friendly film. Please remember it is a time period movie and some things shown in the movie like the German Nazi salute is what they did during that war. That's how you explain it to your kids should they ask if you choose to let them watch this movie. I would recommend this film to anyone with an open mind on new perspectives and ask that you do not campare it to Disney's version. They took a lot of creative liberties just like this film did.
