Honestly as much as life skyrim, the Witcher and fallout, I almost have never beaten the main quest or finished those games. I end up getting really bored to a certain point, almost like once I become a certain level, there's no real challenge anymore. So I start a new character all over again. With Elden Ring, I have awakened the old style of video gaming I loved. I've screamed at my screen, I've ran through and beat the same enemies countless times just to reach a certain item im searching for. This is my first souls game, so I learned real quick how unforgiving this game is. Many many countless hours, days, loading screens after" you died " later. The challenge is still there, and I'm forced to come up with tactics, chase items, which in turn makes me chase other items so I can obtain the original etc etc, this game is the real deal. Now I look forward to getting off work, and cancel plans with my gf just to grind for my build again. Not sure if I could go back to skyrim after this.
