I had to put it down after I was 1/2 through. It wasn’t that exciting to begin with,,but I got so tired with the outright lines dedicated to Covid, masks, trust the science, restaurants shuttered, you know we can’t high five Harry. Give me a break! Yea, I know he wrote during Covid and 4 years on brings a perspective for me of, let those sorry days die already. I’d like to think if he wrote it today about 2020, he might frame some things up as it being the initial Covid year, but then avoid lines like when Harry tells Renee…..Let me get a mask and I’ll be right out….opting for….give me a few and I’ll be right out. It just wore me out. I really haven’t found any of the Ballard/Bosch duo books nearly as interesting as all of Connelly’s other series

At first, it looked like there would actually be a connection to THE FIRM or at least to Memphis with Mitch being asked to represent a druggie prisoner. But that vanished when Mitch arrived in Memphis and the potential client was dead by hanging. Why even bring Memphis in to this novel which was about an EXCHANGE of a hostage taken by Libyan bad guys for $100M dollars. Yes, there are always interesting characters and plot lines with each, but this book was literally about how to come up with the money before the girl is killed at the end of the deadline. Got exciting in the end but was too little, too late
