With 20+ hours on the game already, it's fair to say the formula and play loop is fun and addicting.
Helldivers 2 took a leap of faith on going third person shooter for its sequel and it paid off tremendously. Not only are the animations top notch and the feedback of them perfect, there's extensive depth and realism put into the weapons and their function. Several of the guns are able to be cycled through fire rates, or RPMs, to allow better conservation of ammo. Rockets have a back blast that can send teammates flying.
Friendly fire is not only on, it's full damage output. So a headshot will likely end your poor friends life instantly. (Hilarious)
Through each difficulty unlocked and then played you get access to more in depth missions and objectives, and the enemy types on the world's you choose to liberate.
The enemy factions are so different from each other, you really have to swap up the strategems and playstyles you use. The automatons by far are my favorite and fighting hordes of them feels like a terminator reality. They are like an entire opposition force on a planet. (We say Clanker with the hard R around here)
If you like coop shooters with a good formula to play with friends and enjoy without stressors like pvp, you should like this game. The 40 dollar price tag is worth every penny and the deluxe is not needed to enjoy the game.
I got it based off the whim the studio was small enough to believe they at least really wanted to deliver a good game. And I was right. Easily will be contender in GOTY category this year. Definitely best coop game.
Solid work, Arrowhead. I adore this game.
