I have the audiobook and it is very hard to listen to. Constantly comparing Doudna to DaVinci, Einstein, etc. is so annoyingly self-serving. Best of all her group lost the major patent case on CRISPR to MIT Broad. If you ever wanted to listen to a book that does nothing but puke all over with compliments like genius, amazing, inspirational leader, rare combination of scientific knowledge and leadership, THIS IS THE BOOK FOR YOU! Lastly, I am a scientist in biotech, so I know this space very well. As the saying goes. Doudna is amazing, she is a genius, inspirational...if you don't believe me, just ask her.

The show is very hard to watch if you know anything about healthcare, engineering, diagnostics, or have common sense. It shows that Silicon Valley and Wall Street loves young kids who aren't held back by experience, or troubled by science and reality. Dressing like Steve Jobs should have been a huge red flag. The main story is that is she is a very naive girl who believes she is the first person in the world to think that blood testing could be done more conveniently and with just a drop of blood! Amazing right!! Who wouldn't want that?? Her USC professors are equally amazed by this fantastic idea! (Someone should create a magic pill that cures cancer!) Perhaps they saw ISTAT (founded in 1984) and forgot that many people were working on this concept that actually knew something about diagnostics and healthcare. Several diagnostic companies were working on microfluidics in the late 1980s, but this extremely gifted girl came up with this idea. I don't know if they are trying to make you feel bad for the girl to get a lighter sentence, but there is a part of the first episode where she wants to have sex to feel normal, drinks, has sex and regrets and claims the guy forced her. Theranos was valued at $9B and they had nothing. Seyfried does a good job of acting like a naive girl with emotional problems.
