Visuals are okay, modeling is okay. Story is a hot turd. Where to begin. It started off promising. Most outer colonies were much like what is portrayed. And the stories told about Spartans by insurrectionists in the EU are very much like what was observed. However, madrigal was glassed in 2528. In this it is alive and well in 2552. They got the behavior of sangheili right, but the covenant's motivation and power structure WAY wrong. Plus the Spartans themselves. This was by far the biggest screw up. Master chief and other spartan II's have a well established backstory within the EU. They were conscripted at age 6. All of them knew they were taken, and they all knew they had lives before conscription into the military. It's actually a really important element of who they are. This series shows them as brainwashed, memory wiped automatons. I mean come on. It's like this was written by someone who watched the cut scenes from halo 2 and some of the halo 5 hunt the truth campaign then chucked the rest of a 21 year developed story. I'm usually really receptive to halo content and changes. But this series is its own thing that I simply cannot reconcile with the series I have loved since 2001. I mean c'mon paramount, you have something like 20 books, 6 mainline games, 3 comic series, and 6 spinoff games, plus 21 years of good, well established content. 27 years of war, tons of combat theaters, many different possible plot lines that you can choose from and develop, but instead you drop this hot turd.
