What a happy surprise this film turned out to be. Hathaway and Wilson have wonderful, comedic chemistry with one another and gave a glimpse, in my mind, how professional con artists might operate in reality.
Hathaway with her gracefulness, sensuous and intelligent demeanor would give any of her victims the go around in reality. At times, the con felt over-the-top but, again, that was part of her character's genius.
Wilson, as always, does a great job of making her characters appear clumsy, predictable, and loud. Her cons were always a jab at Hathaway's character's more structured and graceful approach.
Together, they make their male victim's hearts melt and wallets open wide. I was concerned that this film was going to be a third-wave feminist, misandry and "women are better than men", kind of film which we've seen to have dominated Hollywood the last few years (i.e., Birds of Prey, Captain Marvel), but it was a pleasant surprise that we see Hathaway and Wilson's characters attempt to con app technology creator Thomas (Alex Sharp), who swindles the both of them in a surprise twist.
Of course, Sharp's character did learn everything he knows from his Nana (the famed con artist, "Medusa"). He realizes he's met two con artists his grandmother would be proud of and asks them to join forces with him.
I would look forward to a sequel, and it was a great change from the 'Ocean's' films.
