This was a YT comment but might as well make it a review.
This is a season that needed 13 episodes in order to make sense, at least a season 1 part 2 type of situation.
I stopped watching after episode 5 cause stuff just stopped making sense, the whole Richter not knowing about night creatures completely threw me for a loop. Trevor who didn't care about the Belmonts or monsters knew about night creatures with only 12 years of Belmont training, Richter dedicated his life to training, knew all about the Belmonts, and tried to learn everything he could down to knowing his entire bloodline but didn't know about night creatures, it's been like 600 years bro the information was there.
I was so confused as to why he didn't like magic and seemed to actively hate it even. Maybe it's supposed to represent the trauma for his mom but he's supposed to be the logical Belmont supposedly, why does he think he can kill the strongest vampire his mother as an grown woman couldn't kill with magic, without it.
Him being hated on by the girls for making a plan was stupid.
Him running away was stupid, or at least should've been fleshed out.
Drolta was bad asf didn't deserve to die, well she deserved to die but what a waste great design, fun character, and hot. 10/10 would submit.
The whole vampire godess plot was dumb to me as well, you're literally strong enough to take over Europe what do you need people for??? Marias father being the priest was somewhat interesting but the reveal felt stupid. I kinda figured from like the first ep anyway.
The priest felt like a hypocrite and not in the interesting way, his logic just did not make sense even for 1700's Europe. Maybe that was the point, to show how the church acted despite it's illogicality but the writing could've been done so much better.
Juste was pretty much just there for fans to gush over cause Belmont name, he's obviously just supposed to represent what an old Trevor would be like and Netflix was banking on everyone thinking that and being like "OMG Trevor how is he alive" then watch the episodes only for it to be revealed to be Juste and stick around anyway, I cant be the only one who thinks this. Regardless old washed up dudes who can still kick it with the yunguns is always a welcome addition.
Night Creature Eduardo was cool.
Slave plot was cool. The whole same grave, same time thing with Annette and that one racist vampire was too jarring to not break immersion tho. Shoulda had her complete the story with Richter, then go back and save her people from the vamp, that would've completed her character and tied up loose ends, now she cant have a proper conclusion to her arc cause they rushed it.
Entire show was mad sus ngl. Not even sus just straight up not straight. Honestly that one scene between Olrox and that guard was downright pointless and not needed, make him gay or bi idc but wth was the point?
6/10 has potential but pointless scenes and important story being rushed and straight up not making sense pulls it down horrendously, ESPECIALLY compared to Castlevania s1-4 which is in my top 10 anime.
This makes me worried for the DMC anime Dante is my favorite video game character of all time.
