I don’t understand why this novel is a big hit, it was boring, derivative and repetitive. I've seen loads of TV dramas with the exact same plot. The characters lacked personality, and the male protagonist was absurdly tall. Where were the sunshine and grumpy duo the reviews mentioned? All I see is a socially awkward dwarf being forced to sexually abuse a broad, towering jerk. Besides, I hated the part where Olive’s mentor kept telling her to carry the confidence of a ‘mediocre white man’. As an Asian, I felt attacked and disrespected. Many Asians have confidence in themselves as well! What a letdown (and a total waste of money)!
