This was an interesting experiment, and i enjoyed watching it. I didn't feel it was quite fair to the participants though, in some ways. For one thing, they each had a small garden plot, but since they were only there for one month, they really couldn't make use of it like a long term resident would. The serious lack of fish that they caught makes me wonder if this is because of over fishing in the area by commercial fishers, which also would not have been the case back in 1900. When they finally did catch fish, they were subject to current day laws on size and amount. I wonder if living in such close proximity of each other might not have promoted a more commune type relationship, with sharing of everything, but maybe not. But i think the chicken/egg business should have been shared. I wonder if long term residents might not have had a few goats for milk & cheese? I thought it was funny that when they came there, they came boldly by boat, but when they left, they were walking...(as the fishmonger did) so i guess there must have been a community not too far away? Thanks, enjoyed it!!
