Fascinating. There are certain stories that can truly be described as epic. I found both the premise and the writing in this book intriguing and thought provoking. It's not the sort of book you skim through. Rather, it is one where you read slowly, and linger on each new idea. For someone who is a natural speed reader, this took me an inordinately long time to finish, as I absorbed new concepts, both scientific and cultural. But it was well worth it. Many thanks to the author, the translators, and Tor for making this available to be read in English.
