I never realized horrible things like this happened, but I am not surprised. Historic fiction is a genre I wish I knew about when I was younger, to learn more about history. Created characters lives are wound through real history, like Daiyu’s.
The author writes a thoroughly engaging story about a young girl, Daiyu who comes from a loving home, ends up living on the streets of China and is kidnapped, brought to America to be sold as a prostitute. It follows her tragic life through losing her family and friends in China, coming to America in a bucket, escaping the brothel to hiding as a boy, and finding small slices of happiness in between them all.
I highly recommend reading, and hope the author will write more.
