Superb. Beautifully adapted by Hugh Laurie and with two rising stars in the lead roles. Wonderfully shot and the witty lines crisply delivered by Lucy Boynton in particular. I can only assume that anyone who did not understand her is not a native English-english speaker. Her lines were perfectly enunciated. Highly enjoyable and recommended.

Shockingly poor. A waste of good actors like Paddy Considine. Poorly written. Awful dialogue.

Enjoyable. An improvement on the recent Scandi dramas it is clearly influenced by. They have become dreary and derivative. This is much fresher and more interesting. Good acting, a Colin Farrell lookalike, one of the Commitments, scenes of Antwerp and Shannon. A decent watch.

A very enjoyable police procedural. The script is deft and witty with some good pieces to camera from Walker. The weekly literary theme is good fun done without pretentiousness. A good ensemble cast too. .

Superb viewing. The best drama series since Mare of Eastown . ..albeit in a very different genre. The cast are uniformly excellent. A special round of applause for Murray Bartlett who was channelling Basil Fawlty brilliantly in the final episode..that manic grin..😄. I gather than there is going to be a second series..I assume it’s going to have a largely different cast. In the meantime thank you to all concerned for some highly enjoyable late Summer viewing…👏👏👏👏

Quite frankly the most boring and dreary TV drama I have ever seen. We had decided to see it through having started, but no it’s too boring to endure. Fiona Shaw’s habitual overacting can be an enhancement if the script is good, but here she just makes things even worse. No more.

It’s difficult to sustain interest in any drama with no likeable characters. So I won’t bother to try any more.

If I were rating this by the standard of the acting I would give it 5 stars. It’s excellent all round, and Ms Dormer in particular turns in a tour-de-force...But, but...the writing is poor stuff aimed entirely at a kind of schlock horror reminiscent of X rated B movies of the 60s. Which may be what the intention was, given the overall title of the franchise. But it’s thin and shallow stuff underneath all the whizzo special effects and sensationalism.

The second series is a pale reflection of the first. The acting is as good as ever. The two leads are superb and spark each other to performances of rare quality. But the writing is poor. The plotting once fresh and lively is predictable and heavy handed. The first series will stay in the memory as a TV highlight. It would be a sad error to make a third series.
