At first glance, Disney’s “Jungle Cruise” movie appears to be a remake of “The African Queen,” an Academy Award winning adventure/ romance 1951 film staring Humphrey Bogart and Katharine Hepburn who travel down the Nile River together following WW1, in an attempt for safe passage all the while dodging torpedos, leeches, German soldiers and each other! The film is based on a true story and is a must see classic. Having said that, Jungle Cruise looks very similar and well done, and is probably entertaining enough to see with my 9-year old nephew so I’m eager to watch it. Giving it 4 stars because I haven’t seen it yet, but given that I love the actors and Disney and the plot, how bad could it be??
