I got this novel after it being discussed on TikTok and the most infuriating part of reading this book is the authors perspective and persistent perception on being correct. Essentially the author created a position within Facebook that had not yet been created after much persistence and convincing however, not that this position has no merit the author is very boastful about her accomplishment in this. It felt like in the beginning chapters I was reading about the author patting themselves on the back over and over again, and it became exhausting. I think that it is important to take pride in your work, but the way in which this was written across negatively as a reader. I do, however, admire the courage this author had in many of the chapters, but I also feel as though the author did lack better judgment in not following through with some situations that could’ve put her in immense danger. This author very much grew up with “ Old-school values” and mentions this in the novel and how it shaped them to be who they are. Unfortunately, I think that these values negatively impacted the author and did so in a way that maybe she did not see until after the fact.
