I love Loretta Devine and want to love the show, but the writing and acting feels forced. And the laugh track and live audience laughter every 20-30 seconds is a big distraction. Also, the writing doesn't feel relevant to the current culture. There's so many opportunities for the writing to go deep and remain funny, similar to the way it's done on Blackish.
