This book is hard to follow. The contradictions do little for keeping your interest.
This, how many ways can you say the same thing, concept does little to keep your interest.
Samantha has been hurt by her father. She blames Megan for this. I am of the impression that her issues with Megan formed when Megan was born.
It would make sense that her contempt towards her father for making another family has controlled her entire adult life. Her many failed relationships, the loss of her children. Her paranoia, her trust issues and possibly every negative, self inflicted, incident in her adult life is due to her father moving on with his life and going too far when he had another child. Because of her Megan issues she couldn't bond with her own children.
I am of the impression that when Megan and Harry met she, Samantha, became the wedge like nothing before in her entire life.
Daddy you didn't love me like you love her.
Daddy when she becomes royalty I am all you got. If you support her you lose me completely.
Daddy, who ate you compared to them? You will never fit in, Megan won't either. Until I bring it to an end you need me. I will not be here for you if you interfere.
Daddy, she is being mean to me. You need to make her invite me to the wedding or else I will trash you to the world.
Daddy, she didn't invite us, if you go there without is I will never speak to you again. Tell her I am your plus 1.
Poor daddy is torn so much and stressed so much he strokes.
Samantha blames it on Megan but enjoys being the catalyst.
It isn't enough that Samantha is the wedge between father and his baby girl.
Megan is no stranger to the Samantha and Daddy tactics. She opts to stay put of it. Daddy can give me away while the rest stay home. If not then that's on them.
Samantha is obsessed with Megan. She is blinded by her obsession. She is a trainwreck and this book is a form of entitlement that is also not going as she planned.
It could have been a good book had she used the space to take responsibility for her self inflicted drama.
She failed to tell a story as much as she tries to be the victim of an unborn half sister who destroyed her life due to a selfish and thoughtless father who dared to start another family against the will of a 17 y/o know it all who only came around her father when she wanted money. Daddy getting married again forced her to embrace an extended family or hate them. She chose hatred.
How this is Megan's fault or how it's their father's fault only makes sense in Samantha's mind. She failed to get it from her mind and into the book as much as she tried to without considering the path of self infliction that she chose.
The book is an example of unclear writing while attempting to create a narrative within the readers mind based on the readers own experiences not hers.
It's tragic that Samantha lacks the capacity to be more than the narcissist that she is.
I hope Samantha gets the help she is begging for. Her dad should consider a competency hearing for his oldest daughter.
This is a true tragedy.
