Total War: Warhammer 1 and 2 are some of my favorite games ever made, but Warhammer 3 is not. At present it suffers from terrible design changes and a premature release. These are the 4 big issues:
1) Frustrating mechanics. The games campaign railroads players into performing a boring yet stressful race to complete tasks before the AI. In previous games you controlled your faction as you build an empire, but here you mimic the AI or lose the game. this has no replayability and is frustrating at every step every.
Seperately most battles are new "minor settlement battles", sieges dominated by overpowered tower buildings which respawn the moment they are destroyed. These battles are repetetive, monotonous, imbalanced, time consuming, and awful to experience.
2) Poor performance. Even on an up to date powerful gaming pc this game crashes regularly, fails to render, experiences collosal frame rate dips, and is plagued by a host of other performance issues. it simply isnt optimised well due to premature release.
3) glitches and bugs. Units cant be controlled, go invisible, fall to their death on traversable terrain, loop, lose pathing.... its a lot.
4) Game Balance. Certain factions and units seem well developed, others seem to be afterthoughts.
Many of these issues were reported on expensively by playtesters before the games release. Creative Assembly knew the game was not finished, yet chose to release anyway. Hopefully they will fix these problems with patches as time goes on, but customers should not need to wait to enjoy their purchase. at present this game feels like an incomplete cash grab.
