As a fan of the books, it was difficult to watch. It was as though they butchered the finely woven threads of Robert Jordan's pattern, then tried to impossibly mesh together a zillion books into 8 short episodes, joining together whatever random threads were closest. Then, they sprinkled over it all the mandatory sex scenes for the gods of rating, outed a few characters for the gods of lgbt, and diversified the races and religions of the characters (there were even quite a few hijabs there, I noticed) for the gods of modern PC.
However, taking into mind what a short leash most TV productions are given, they did their best to squeeze it all into one, short-lived season.
Some of the actors really shined, outdoing even their complex written characters (Nynaeve especially, but many others too), and some of the dialogues were written beautifully, feeling quite genuine.
If I'd somehow managed to forget the books, I guess I would've enjoyed the series better, but alas, they are simply unforgettable. The TV series though, I imagine, will quickly be shoved into the recesses of my mind by the next fantasy series.
